Pride Northshore Parade Code of Conduct

By registering for the parade, either individually or with a group, all parade participants agree to abide by this code of conduct.

Attire

  • This is an all-ages event. Clothing must cover both tops and bottoms. No fetish gear or clothing with sexually explicit or profane content.

Essentials

  • Bring sunscreen and water — they’re your best friends!

Leave these at home

  • Airhorns, megaphones, weapons of any kind, drugs (there will be nearly 30 police officers on site and St. Tammany is not chill about substances including weed).

Behavior

  • If you wouldn’t do it in front of kindergartners, don’t do it at the parade.

Vehicles

  • This is a walking parade. A limited number of golf carts are allowed. If you intend to use a golf cart, or for other vehicle inquiries, email info@queernorthshore.org

Restrooms

  • There will be porta-potties near parade registration and along the parade route. There are restrooms available at the Mandeville Trailhead for the Block Party.

Throws

  • Throws are optional, but if you bring them:

    • Keep them PG-rated

    • No plastic beads — they're toxic and bad for the environment

    • Handmade items are encouraged

    • Hand throws directly to attendees instead of tossing

Clean-Up

  • Keep the Lakefront and Trailhead clean. Use trash bins. Volunteers from Keep Abita Beautiful are donating their time — please help them out.

Food

  • No food allowed on the Lakefront. Food trucks (The Smokin Buddha and Taco y Birria) will be at the post-parade block party. Vegetarian options will be available.

Minors

  • Participants must be 18+ unless accompanied by a legal guardian.

Animals

  • No pets in the parade. Service animals are welcome.

Music

  • Individual participants may not bring their own amplified music for the parade. For Registered Groups, marching bands or amplified music are strongly encouraged, but must be free of explicit lyrics. Megaphones are not permitted.

Protestors

  • There will be protestors. They want a reaction. DO NOT ENGAGE.

    • Ignore and stay calm

    • Move away if needed

    • Alert others or a PRIDE Captain if you feel unsafe

PRIDE Captains

  • There will be designated PRIDE Captains in designated shirts throughout the route. Contact them for any issues during the parade.
